Inference Release Candidate 5 now available - free download

Blue Reference is pleased to announce the release of Inference Release Candidate 5. Inference RC5 is now available. You can download a 60-day free trial by following this link: http://inference.us/FreeTrial/default.aspx

In response to feedback that we’ve received from users, we’ve added the following features:

· All Platforms

o Updated Training and Support – New iQuickStarts added to assist new users in getting started with Inference

o Inference is now installed for all users (as opposed to the logged-in user only)

o “Show Paragraph Formatting” now turned off when results documents are created

o Reduced file size and increased performance for Inference in Excel (2003) documents

o Logging added to help diagnose export issues

o Icons added to visualize data types

· Inference for MATLAB

o PCODE files now an embeddable object

o Streamlined installation (configuring Inference for MATLAB is no longer required)

And, we’ve made the following changes:

· All Platforms

o General export error (“An error occurred while opening the Inference in Word Document”) fixed

o Results document formatting and whitespace handling cleaned up; results documents should now format properly (this was especially a problem if the code block was set to not output code)

o Word templates no longer have to be read-only to use within Inference in Word

o Getting Started wizard – information billboards now scroll

o Inference Online now properly handles the condition where no internet connection is present

o Many other minor bug fixes

· Inference for MATLAB:

o Error handling – code execution errors will no longer cause the MATLAB window to stay open and stall the execution process

Blue Reference, Inc. announces Inference Academic Affiliate Program

Blue Reference, Inc. is delighted to announce the formation of the Inference Academic Affiliate Program. The goal of the program is to engender use of Inference by professors and their students for the purposes of reproducible research, virtual learning practices, publishing, and collaboration.

The Inference Academic Affiliate Program supports the academic community by providing Inference software to instructors and students at no charge. Affiliates have access to technical support, software updates, and Inference software development team members. As part of their ongoing participation in the program, Affiliates provide brief bi-monthly reports focused on identifying and developing key features and capabilities that make Inference a useful tool within their field of expertise.

Additionally, Affiliates explore the use of Inference’s dynamic documents as a teaching aid to help students learn, use, and apply scripting and data-analysis platforms such as MATLAB, R, and .NET. Inference integrates technical computing platforms with Microsoft Excel and Word, enabling instructors and students to assemble explanatory text, code, objects, and data within a single dynamic document. Dynamic documents are potentially powerful tools for enabling reproducible results, creating interactive lesson plans, publishing research.

Paul van Eikeren, CEO and co-founder of Blue Reference, says, “We are gratified to see an enthusiastic response from the academic community. This recent expansion was necessary to accommodate the rapid growth of the company. The new site is the perfect location for Blue Reference’s new headquarters, as Paul van Eikeren, CEO says:

Blue Reference joins BioIT Alliance

Blue Reference, developer of the Inference software solutions platform and leading provider of software solutions to global pharmaceutical companies, announced today that it has joined the BioIT Alliance. Formed in 2006, the BioIT Alliance is a cross-industry group working to integrate science and technology in order to accelerate the pace of drug discovery and realize the potential of personalized medicine.
