Awards

The total amount available under this request for proposals (RFP) is $1,000,000. Microsoft anticipates making approximately 10-12 awards averaging $80,000, with a maximum of $100,000 for any single award.

RFP highlights

This worldwide RFP seeks to incubate creative and novel healthcare solutions that are accessible, affordable, and relevant for ‘smart’ mobile phones. An additional focus is the creation of appropriate services, systems, and infrastructures to provide solutions to the global healthcare community. We feel that cell phones and inexpensive, commonly available sensor devices have an opportunity to reach people who until now have not previously had access to technology-based healthcare solutions. Along with the funding, awardees will receive cellphones and relevant software to help enable their research.

· http://msdn.microsoft.com/architecture - This site provide a mix of technology and industry focused topic centers. I found the information on Enterprise Service Bus informative.

· http://www.architecturejournal.net – Architecture Journal is a quarterly magazine that provides high quality articles for the Enterprise, Solutions, and Infrastructure Architect audience. It is available both online and printed, in multiple languages worldwide, and has currently over 45,000 subscribers. We have just released Issue 9, the topic of which is Software Factories.

· Architecture Journal Books – we have released two books in the Architecture Journal Book series so far (Dynamic Modeling and Readings in Service Orientation). These books are also available online (links on right of http://msdn.microsoft.com/architecture). The third book in the series (on the topic of Office Business Applications) will be released in Q2.

· http://www.skyscrapr.net – Skyscrapr is our new community site for the aspiring architect audience. Although only released at TechEd US this year, the site is attracting a growing number of articles and posts relevant to the aspiring architect audience. We look at this site as offering a gateway into our other architect-related content offerings.

· http://www.arcast.net – Over the past 12 months, Rojacobs in my team has built a podcast series called ARCast, with phenomenal success. ARCast is the #1 audio show on Channel 9, and releases 2 audio podcasts per week to approximately 4,500 listeners per episode. This year Ron is expanding into creating a video format of ARCast together with aligning recordings major events around the globe.
