Modification of the Coding Sequence Enhances Plant Expression of Insect Control Protein Genes - OptGene™: A Case Study
Increased expression of the insect control protein genes in plants has been critical to the development of genetically improved plants with agronomically acceptable levels of insect resistance. Insect control proteins from a prokaryotic source, Bacillus thuringiensis var.kurstaki(B.t.k.) are specific for Lepidopteran insects and exhibit no activity against humans, other vertebrates, and beneficial insects.
